I'm trying to figure out a way to have a separate page that displays only items submitted by the user. I was looking at the Personal Repository option in the latest version but it looks like a new module is created when you drop the repository on to another page. Is there a way to point it at an existing repository and have users see only their items with the Personal Repository option checked?

Basically, we have one repository where users can share items, I wanted a second one set to Personal so they can see only their items.

thanks,
Dan

So, if I understand you .. you want 2 Repository modules, on two separate pages, one configured to allow people to see all items, and the other configured to only see their own items, but both modules working off the same 'moduleid' ie: the same set of data items?

If that's what you're looking for, I'm sorry, but that's not possible.  The data items associated with a module are based off the moduleid.

You're kinda stuck, you can't have the same module on 2 pages with different configurations, and you can't have 2 different modules looking at the same data.

What about a custom 'Filter", sort of like categories or attributes, where you would just have one module on one page, but would have a filter of some sort at the top that allows the user to select 'all items' or 'my items'

That's not in the current feature set, but would be easy for me to add in a future dev build if that would solve your problem

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, that's what we were looking for. A filter option would definitely help. We're looking for an easy way for people to manage their own items in the repository. One other option, would be a repository dashboard that you can set to show that specific user's items.

The filter approach is used by a lot of third party modules to allow you to show content filtered by userid. DNNers who are using Active Social have worked with a lot of module vendors to get this capability so they can place a tab on the AS profile page like My Articles, My Videos, etc. There is a huge need for a great repository that can manage multiple types of files and media and allow filtering by userid. It would need to work with members and groups. I doubt that is an undertaking you are ready to pursue, but with Active Social moving to the DNN core, it might make sense. Any thoughts?
