What is the purpose of the repository dashboard?

It can be used in a variety of ways. You can use as a quick category sorter (click on a category and only items from that category show up on the repository page), to show your top rated items, top downloads. If you place it on your home page and the Repository is on another page it can act as a quick link to the page.
