Hi Steve,

I started this topic because I wanted to ask you to consider adding the ability to automatically display IPTC information along with image files. The same idea should also be applied to other forms of meta data such as exif.... a list of MP3's should for example show artist and song info etc.

But really.. there's a whole lot more to my take on things here:

Now, this may not be very obvious to the team, but it's pretty clear to me that your repository module should be serving a far far broader range of site functionality in future releases of DNN.

I believe it should replace or become the primary module for documents, files, gallery/photos, blog, news and announcements, classifieds, and of course user-uploads and links etc. The module is already a virtual mini website as it stands. By simply changing the skin from page to page one can vastly alter its purpose and yet maintain a highly desirable consistency across things such as ratings and comments, content management and the dashboard bits.

The logical alternative is that all cross-module functionality (e.g. ratings) be removed from all core modules and made available as seperate core objects.

The last thing anyone needs on a single site is 5 different upload interfaces, 4 types of comment form and a different rating system on every page.

Unless carefully managed with vision and strategy, overlapping functionality in modules will eventually dissolve good user experience with DNN. I'm seeding you with these thoughts now in order that they may be considered by all some time.

Regards,
Rob
