I keep getting this error:
A critical error has occurred.
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed
whenever I add a repository module to a page. Why would a module have access to the FileIO in the first place? I managed to pass all the trouble of getting the site up and running  and having given the virtual directory the proper permission , yet the FileIO error  reappear.

Any reason or method I could do to overcome this?

That's a file permission problem. When you place the Repository on a page it creates a couple of directories under the Portals/[Portal #/Name] directory. If you're running Server 2003 then Network Service needs Read/Write permissions and if your running Windows 2000 server then the ASPNET user needs Read/Write permissions. I've run into permission problems with other modules in the past and had to give either the Network Service or ASPNET user Read permission on the physical hard drive root (ie: the C: drive).

According to my service provider, NetworkService user already have both Write/Read permission to the whole folder. Yet I still getting this error, not to mentioned some occurrence of page error, while can be overcome by hitting the refresh button a few times.

Hello,

For people hosted on dedicated server (like me), do we need to have the whole wwwroot set as read/write for everybody or not (or read only or what ??) ? This is something missing in the documentation, or something I did not find...

Network Service is going to need read permissions on the root of the physical physical drive. There are a few modules (including the Repository) that store the physical  storage path of a file or directory. IE: If DNN was installed at C:\Inetpub\www\DNN then Network Service needs read permissions on C:\, Inetpub, and www. For the DNN folder you can give it Read/Write but I'd read the security documentation in the DNN release documents for more info.
