When I used videolibrary template, it works in both firefox and ie. But when I used niftyvideo, it does not work in firefox and only work in ie. It prompts me to think if it is possible to add a whole url to the file("http://xxx/portal..." and it might work in that way. My question is how to add "http://xxx/" to the link there? Thanks!

By the way, if I login into the dnn app, it will play video in firefox, even after logout. Any suggestions to fix this issue? Thanks!

Hi Hy

I believe this is because Firefox blocks the (signed) activeX control that is Windows media player.
I am told that it is possible to get "Grr!-fox" to allow this control but its not straightforward to the user.
I have no idea of the intentions behind this "tactic" but it impacts both the clips viewer and the sites designer.

The only cross platform, embeddable video player that you can depend on is the Flash player.
This plays swf and flv formats of video.
There are a few methods and players available inside DNN.
I believe the Media module will play swf files. The only players I know of that play the later and better flv format are third party modules.

Hope this helps.

BTW: If you must use wmv format video then a workaround may be to provide a link to the file so grr!-fox users can lauch it into their local media player.

Thanks, Betacam! So if Repository module uses Flash player, it might solve the issues. I wonder if the Repository team ever considers to replace Microsoft play with Flash player.
