hello;

I am not certain that UDT is the right module for what I want to do, so I will describe what I want and perhaps someone can tell me if I am barking up the right tree.

I want my DNN users to get points every month, and the points they get will depend on the number of days they have been registered users.

In other words, a user who has been registered for 100 days would get 100 points at month-end and a user who has been registered 200 days will get 200 points at month-end. Obviously, the number of points for each user would go up each month. I really don't want to enter this by hand for each user, so is UDT the right thing to use for scripting this?

Thanks in advance, if anyone knows.

You might be able to use a combination of the tokens [Membership:CreatedDate] and [DateTime:Now] in combination with a calcuated column to show how many points each user would get. I'm sorry I haven't used the tokens or calculated columns in UDT before but would think the user manual available from the project download page in combination with the link to "Available Tokens Help" in the Manage User Defined Table screen on your DNN installation should give you more details

UDT will be no help for you as it doesn't deal with the user's profile though it allows users (or better admins) to create their own lists.

You would need to write an own module that works against the user profile. Maybe there are other solutions I am not aware of.

Okay, thanks. I did read through a bunch of the various modules and there did not appear to be any that allowed for tracking/manipulating points for users. I guess it would be a bit like a "shopping" or ecommerce module, since the points would be redeemable for eware and percs of various descriptions, as well as trading with other users.

If points accrued monthly, but only of the user logs on at least once a month, it should encourage return visits. Well, that's my theory, anyhow.

I need the practice programming, so I guess I'll try my hand at writing a module. This should be fun!
