Hi folks,

I'm trying to use DNN tokens in a "rich text" type column, but they are not replaced by their value, i.e. they are displayed as simple text.

As UDT is said to be token-aware, I wonder if this is a bug or a feature.

Please let me know.

please check out the UDT manual, obtainable from here, where Tokens can be used. We do not support Rich Text columns for security reasons and due to few use cases we could imagine. Tokens are supported in calculated columns and default values.

Hi Sebastian,

I've just re-read the UDT manual (in truth, in the last six months I've been checking it more often than my bank account) but the topic I'm asking about is not addressed clearly, so thank you for your kind reply.

Anyway, it is sad to know that such a feature is unimplemented; infact full embracing formandlist.com's motto (i.e. "never-use-text/HTML-but-do-everything-with-formandlistmodule), I've replaced all text/HTML modules in my website with UDTs, aiming at implementing a simple localization feature (yep, my hoster doesn't let me use third-party modules, so it would have been impossibile to dynamically change language for texts without UDT), but now I realize I'm missing a very important feature being unable to use tokens. I suppose Stefen Cullman can understand me here...

I didn't say we won't add this feature - it just hasn't been done (fyi: it's been me, who added TokenReplace to Text/HML module in DNN 4.7) and we need to consider security impact of it - contribution to a form or list of entries oftenly targets a different audience than editors of a Text/HTML module and needs to be handled appropriately. please log the enhancement request into the public tracker (2nd from top) at support.dotnetnuke.com.
