as I've created by 20th table on my site I've notified that UDT settings are sometimes organized not very logical.

There are two settings for UDT (and this is what is absolutelly GREAT on UDT !!):

1. module settings (rules for all instances of current UDT module eg. module title, user rights,....)

2. tab module settings (rules for specific page/tab on which is module placed eg. filter, vizualizers, table structure ??)

but why structure definition is editable on tab module settings ? should my table has different structure on different pages ? I guess no. I believe that table structure def should be placed to module settings and in tab module settings should remain only filter and visualization.

what do U think ?

I guess you mean why the table schema is editable on all instances of a UDT.

The reason behind is quite simple: there is no master module which controls the others, the instance are logically equal.

Stefan, my note is based on my "pure user" coleague input. As he saw the settings he says, huh super I can have different columns on different pages for this table ;-). Then he realized that (fortunately he cant).

I think that for beginers this can be a bit confusing and I thought of following: If U press standard module settings button U see almost all U need except of table schema. I think that table schema should be here because it rules for all pages where this module is or will be placed, same as other settings here.

on the "form and list settings" settings should remain only vizualizers and filters and file and url column settings (eg open in new window,....).

in other words, "form and list settings" is a mixture of settings appliable on "tab module level" and settings appliable on "module level" which might be confusing.

is my explanation more clear now ?

Adam,

I understand -  there was a reason, why the display settings had been called "page settings" in UDT 3.

Splitting up column definitions and other options is a valid enhancement suggestion, please log it into the issue tracker at dnnfnl.codeplex.com.
