Hi Stefan,

Is there a way to make Csv2UdtImport.exe import cyrillic text? I still use UTD, and I need to import. I know FnL have csv import, but i'm still on DNN4.9.

Another option for me is to use SQL commands to import data directly to UTD tables. I know this won't be an easy task, because UTD uses 3 tables for its data - UserDefinedFields (only field IDs, not storing), UserDefinedData, UserDefinedRows table. Can you help me with example SQL statement I should use to import data to UTD.

Thanx in advance, DM

Your file to import needs to be saved in UTF-8/Unicode. I suggest that you install DNN5 and Fnl5.1.2 (which is available as RC on Codeplex), import your CSV and export it later as module. Transfer the export to your DNN4.9 machine and import it in your UDT.

Hello Stefan,

Thanks for your answer. I found the solution, but it's not Save As csv file. If anyone want to use cyrillic characted from an Excel file he should save as ASCII text (txt) file and then rename it to csv. I tried save as csv file with additional options settings like Tools - Web Options -> Encoding and Fonts tabs but nothing helped.

More info: Cyrillic characters in cells in Excel using the Unicode character set can be pasted into a text file which can be renamed with a .csv extension and then opened by Excel as a csv file. The problem, and the reason for is that Excel will not save the unicode characters to a csv file--it will only save them if you use a "Unicode Text (*.txt)" file type. This is not actually much of a restriction (i.e., using .txt rather than .csv) because the .csv file type is an ASCII text file type just like a .txt file.

Stefan, if you think the solution is good and the problem is actual you may post this in a blog, in formandlist.com or anywhere else to help other DNN users.

DM

p.s. I'm still in DNN 4.9 and UTD, but i managed to add codingstaff control to UTD and use it. Just for other readers here - the same implementation you made for FnL. Is it working the same way as it's installed as an additional control in UTD and integrated in the new FnL?
