I am using SQL Server 2008 and the Form and List module version 5.0.2.  Because the module uses the old NTEXT data type to hold FieldValue in the UserDefinedData table, I cannot easily create a trigger reading the corresp[onding 'inserted' or 'deleted' temporary tables.  SQL Server 2008 does not support NTEXT for triggers, but NVARCHAR (4000) would be an OK replacement, I think.

I want to write a SQL Server trigger to automatically populate one row value (a tab reference) when another row value is inserted.  This is specifically because the module deletes page references, if they are to the page it is on, when a row is updated.  Any other way of negating this behaviour would be gratefully received

Cheers, Richard

We cannot replace NText by NVarChar(4000) for several reasons. Form and List will target DNN5.2 as minimum version in a future release, which means also SQL Server 2005. At that time we will replace all NText fields to NVarChar(Max)

Thanks Stefan

I have found a workaround to getting the NTEXT value for AFTER INSERT triggers - just read the value from the database table rather than from the 'inserted' table.  With this workaround I can reinstate my tab reference (after the module has deleted it because it is the current tab)

Cheers, Richard
