Is it possible to change the text that is displayed for a download field or a url (to file) field?  The default behavior is to display the file name as the text portion of the link.

Presently a download field displays as:
DownloadDoc.pdf
I'd prefer the link to display like this
Download the Doc

I've tried using xml to accomplish this, using something like:
<a href="{udt:LinkField}">
but that inserts the whole anchor tag html into the href tag.

Any ideas?

you may use a static HTML for caption or use a calculated column to combine download link with a custom caption.

Got it!  The undocumented voodoo is to use Columnname_UDT_Url for the document field.
