I am trying to understand the xls template provided. (and i guess it doesn't help that i don't have a firm background in xls). What does the '//UDT:' mean in '<xsl:template match="/udt:UserDefinedTable">'.

Why did you not use '<xsl:template match="UserDefinedTable">' as it is.

Also, is there any documentation coming out to assist those of us needing help with UDT view customizations?

thanks.

The specific need of UDT is the situation, that columns are defined by users, so we need a generic approach in our templates. Details will be given by Stefan, who is on vacation atm. There will be a documentation about xsl rendering, but I cannot give a date now, sorry.

Cheers from Germany,

It is not!

The Xml data is defined in its own namespace

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
  <UserDefinedTable xmlns="DotNetNuke/UserDefinedTable">

<Data>

       ...

All elements inherit this namespace too. Inside the declaration of the xsl stylesheet we need to reference that namespace and we introduce an francly chossen abbreviation for it, which I prefere to name udt.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
   <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
              xmlns:xsl
="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
              xmlns:udt
="DotNetNuke/UserDefinedTable">
  <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes" />

The prefix is needed to access the right data source. <xsl:template match="udt:/UserDefinedTable">
