I am looking to create a User Defined Table (UDT) directory with Name, Address and a few other columns of contact info. I would like to let only select Roles add/edit rows. And ideally, each user w/ selected Role would be allowed to add/edit only one UDT row - their own directory listing. Can anyone imagine a means to solve this problem, using UDT and XSL perhaps? Thank you.

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

this feature is already available in current UDT by setting the appropriate permissions, though you cannot limit everyone to enter only a single record. Be aware, that - due to a core issue - you need a container with an "add item" action button.

It is good that the UDT module can limit user editing to only their own rows. For this application, limiting users to one UDT record listing is also a priority. This would allow only a single entry in the list/directory for any one user, which is a requirement of the system. Maybe UDT is not the best approach for this problem, although UDT is so dang good about managing rows/columns, I had hoped it could do the trick to limit one row per user.

i wish to echo this feedback.

plus, a suggestion: is it possible for the administrator to update the CreatedBy field using a list of usernames?

i am assuming this field is used to check whether the current user has permission to edit any particular row. if the administrator can update the field, then a row can be created by the administrator, and then assigned to a user. so when the user logs in, they won't be adding rows but just updating the row assigned to them.

hope it's something that can be considered. great job so far!

I need the same feature for my daily job, and I added it as an issue to gemini. Currently there is no control inside DNN that allows picking a user out of a list. So similar implementaions inside documents or dnn core (4.5) forces simply the input of the user name.
