Hi Stefan,

am wondering if any others have reported this, but it has happened several times to me now.

suddenly, most of my xml module instances lose their xml and / or xsl references. they seem to keep all their parameter settings though.

this is a big deal to me because my site uses the xml module extensively, for country and language lists, for content lists and for content. all the data is pulled from internal systems as xml.

it happened yesterday again, we are monitoring the site and knew right when the problem started, but I can see no hack attempts in the IIS logs

am running:

04.05.05

xml module is  04.03.04

thanks for any ideas that might help me stop this.

 Tom,

I suggest to upgrade to DNn 4.9.2 for security reasons. besides, please make sure, that the scheduled job for file sync is disabled, this sounds like a known issue with this function. please use autosync in Host Settings instead, and perform a manual recursive sync in admin file manager, after adding /renaming / moving / deleting a portal folder via windows explorer or FTP.

Cheers from Germany,

Hi Sebastian,

thanks for the prompt reply. I had hopes that you had solved this mystery for me, but the scheduled job for file sync was disabled (or not enabled) and autosync in Host settings was checked already. so something else is causing this distressing behaviour. I had not done anything with portal  folders, but had copied files up using Windows Explorer the day before.

I am trying to upgrade to DNN 4.9.2 and also move all my sites to their own IIS services each with its own dnn and dnn db. I have them in one db now which sounded good at the time, and makes making new parent portals easy, but has potential for interference. I have had to wait until some modules we use were certified to work on the new version.

My dnn 4.9.2 install is not going well. all the other dnn installs have been fairly painless, but this time I just get errors, and can't even turn on error reporting to tell  what they actually are. Will be struggling with that all  this next week.

thanks for  your suggestions, though
