I think I know the answer to this already but I’ll ask anyway.
 
Is there any way to display an image embedded within an XML file? From what I can see the answer is probably no but if someone has a solution it would make things a lot neater than extracting all the images and re writing the xml file to contain links.

It is not possible by default, it is not part of the XSL engine. You could write an extension which transforms the binary data to a new response stream. 

Note: the documentation seams to be wrong, according to Oleg Tkachenko no full trust is needed in Net2.0.
