Hi

I have come across an issue which i think must have been spotted by now, but havnt found anything on it. When forum module is active, it acts as a module alongside other modules. As you can see in this forum, there are Ads and navigation modules around the forum. However when you attempt to post a new thread, you end up in a different page. As I have experimented on my site, the page style comes from the skin used for Admin pages. So far, i am not too bothered. The user can write the message and sent the post.

However, once the post is sent, the page remains as in Admin page with no side module.  Why?

It is even easier to see this problem, which also happens in this DNN forum you are reading.  Click on [Project :: Forums (Lead: Chris Paterra / Tam Tran Minh)] at the of of this forum or follow this:

What happended to side module. Why is it not consistent with all other views? How is it possible to get the forum with side module, no matter where you may navgigate within the forum. Forum module (like any other) should reside on a single DNN page, shouldnt it?

Thanks for any advice

The module does reside on a single page. What is different is the skin used when viewing various parts of the module. Basically, if you ever see mid in the querystring, the core loads the admin skin set portal wide (regardless of the skin applied at the module level). I cannot fix how this is handled by the core, but what I have done for the next release is to remove the moduleID from querystring WHERE possible.

thanks for clarification. I have two questions now. On my site i get two behaviours. When I make new thread,  it shows the admin skin. (it has the mid in the query string). The other is myterious. When I select the forum groups of my site (like http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Projects/ModuleChat/Forums/tabid/966/mid/2108/groupid/4/Default.aspx in here) I get a page setting which is not similar to admin skin.

To put another way, i have three modes: normal mode where side modules are present, admin mode where admin skin in shown, and mysterious mode where a different page skin is shown. For my site this page skin suddenly shows my banner, which is not included in my admin skin. banner is shown in my main skin ofcourse. But then again, this mysterious page doesnt show side modules. Hence three different views.

If you cant fix this, is there a workaround to at least reduce this to two modes. Or to know how to modify this new msyterious skin, so I can make it look the same as others.

You will have to wait until the 4.4 version is publicly released, but it should reduce it two one mode for almost all views and the admin view for the others.
