I have a production site running on DNN 4.4.1 using Forums 3.2.8.  A user entered a post that is causing errors when anyone tries to view it.  It appears to be a problem trying to render the details which is causing two errors, a "System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out" and just before that error I see a "System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.ForumText.ProcessMedia(String OpenTag, String CloseTag) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.ForumText.FormatImage()".

The user re-entered the post and the new one works fine.  I want to delete the offending one but since I can't view it I can't delete it.  I have full access to the site and the database (we host the site) so I figure I'll have to do it via SQL Manager.  I searched through the forum but didn't find any details on how to do this.  Can I just run the "Forum_PostDelete" stored procdure passing in the required information?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chuck R.

Chuck,

I think you can just use that stored procedure to do it, otherwise I recommend looking up the details of the post in the Forum_Posts table, update the text of the post so something simple which should fix the display issue, then you should be able to delete it from the interface.

I have done full manual deletions of posts from the databse, but it was not a very fun experience...

Mitchel... Thanks for the reply!  Seeing your comment about not having a "fund experience" I decided to follow your suggestion about updating the text and then deleting from the UI.  It worked perfectly but I missed your "the fun".

Thanks again,

Chuck R.

Because of the logic contained in the delete sproc, anyone that MUST delete from the db should do so by executing the sproc and passing in the required parameters (which I think is just PostID).

I agree :)

It actually works pretty well, but I like leaving it up to the interface whenever possible.
