Hi,

I think in 3.20.09 the notification feature is only working, if authentication at the mail server is set to anonymous. That´s only possible for Root-Servers, where you can change these settings. For Webhosting that is normally not possible.

I have a 2nd question to notifications: Is it possible to configure the notification-feature in this way, that mails are only sent out, if there are new posts? At this time I´m getting mails for new posts and for any change on consisting posts. I would like to disable notifications for changes on consisting posts. Is that possible? Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, my SMTP is set to anonymous but I still don't receive notifications for posts. Other emails (e.g. user registration & feedback) are coming in fine though.

Does the SMTP-Service run on the same server as DNN ? Maybe your SMTP is set to anonymous, but the relay is only allowed for localhost or several IPs? If your DNN-Server has another IP, the relay would be refused...

Any thougts to my second question?

I'm jealous you got yours working!

The SMTP is running on the same server. Thing is, if the emails are working for user registration and feedback module, why not with the forum? I've tried to set the automated email address to one different from the administrator account, still don't seem to have triggered the notifications to work. Not sure what I'm missing. My forum is not moderated and my account has subscribed to track all forums on the site. And there is also neither any error logged in the event viewer nor bounced emails sent by SMTP.

Regarding your 2nd question, I haven't seen such option to specify the type of notifications to receive. Perhaps this can be a future enhancement.
