Just to offer a heads up:

After working for several months very hard on the module, I needed a small break (other responsibilities). The module was not formally passed or failed because Scott did not like the upgrade experience. Beta testers had little feedback stating it was a problem, so I felt it was adequate as is. However, Scott's opinion is enough to justify additional work which I did not have the time to complete.

I started the changes this weekend around features Scott wanted, I also fixed a couple minor bugs I found along the way. I am in the middle of automating more of the upgrade process to make the dnn.com upgrade easier. This will most likely take me a couple more days considering the impact because its a high risk change involving permissions (I am also certain I cannot work on the module for a couple more days). As is, there probably are around 15 live sites running the version 'frozen' in the vault and I have received no bug submissions from the team.

Mariette is right on the ball Alfonso, so she does know what she is talking about. I am not going to change the project page since it does clearly state the release version. The only thing holding up the module is a matter of opinion, which I am trying to get ironed out as soon as I can.

Crispy, sorry, but I am not agree with your statement. The project has been delayed for different reasons, and will take even more time. My thread was with the intention to make the main page of the forum module clear, avoiding people wait for something that ...from today can take one or two months more....

If you do a search from google (not from the forum search... because it does not work)... you will see post from you and core team encouraging people to wait for the next version. It's time to communicate correctly the message and stop promoting a version that. is not know when can be released. Looks like you are building the 4.4.2 RC.... (RC1 March, RC2 May, RC3 June...)

The new version (www.dnnforums.com) is great, but most of the new features are just OK for a forum module. It is a lot of work if you try to do all by your self (does not make any sense today!), you should be supported with a bigger team, and there are a lot of good people willing to work with your forum module. You have a privilege position being leader of the forum project, use it to do something GREAT!

Regards,

Alfonso

Alfonso, with all due respect you are the only person complaining about this and you have no idea what its like to run a project team. I don't know exactly what you want from a forum module, but you are way off base assuming there a people willing to jump in and code and be productive at it. There are not a lot of people willing and able to work on the module, the past two years have proven that. And as for the release not being out by now, you have read how I would have released this probably two months ago but I have other obstacles in my way.

I respect your enthusiasm but please don't make statements on assumptions.

Guys, the issue is simple. The forums module page is unclear. It's written as if 4.4.0 is released, when it is not.

The fix is simple. Add clarification to the top of the page, or put the 4.4.0 release text under a "Future versions" heading.

This has nothing to do with who knows what about running a project.

Crispy, I respect your work, it is hard work with an important legacy for the community (and it is volunteer). I am Member since 2003(not an active member), following the DNN since 2005, and using DNN in a real environment since 2006. I am NOT given any real help to the DNN other than participating in the forums giving support of what I think the problem/solution is for other...

By other hand I was trying to be part of couple of teams (FAQ, Documents), as you might know, team members are a close community. No one respond me, neither to say "thank but we are ok".  When I figure out that I can help to the forum module The beta process was close (OK I was late..grrrrr).... Don't know why, but someting I think that you (Crispy) are alone working in this module...

I believe the structure of the teams need to be adjusted, like MODULE TEAM A (major responsabilities) and MODULE TEAM B (Enthusiasm people imrpoving module with minor responsabilities that TEAM A, but WORKING in the improvement). 1+1>2 if you work in a collaborative environment.

Finally, this post was just to clarify the main page of the forum module, People is confuse about the module. you can take a review (hard to do with the current search), and you will see how many time people ask the same question... WHERE CAN I GET THE 4.4.0 Forum version...

Have a great week,

Alfonso

EDIT: Typos... (grrrr)
