We have just installed 4.5.3 and have started to use the Forums. We cannot seem to get the various ‘moderation’ buttons like Delete and Edit from appearing for everyone who can post to the forums. I have to believe this is an RTFM sort of thing and I have actually read entire latest fine manual on Forums (as well as searching this forum, of course) but cannot seem to find how to eliminate allowing anyone from editing anyone else’s topics or replies.

I don’t know that it matters but we are using Windows Authentication and most of the people accessing the site have Domain Admin permission. Even those who have no elevated permissions can edit content added by others, however.

Thanks for any pointers about how to eliminate the Delete and Edit buttons.

If someone sees the edit or delete button and can edit the module, they probably have permissions to do so.

I have sort of the same problem. When someone loggs onto the page and this someone does not have editor permissions he does not see the edit or delete buttons. When someone loggs onto the page after some editor logged on to that page (both behind the same computer) he sees the edit button and can click it, but becouse he does not have permissions gets the "you don`t have permissions" error. I get it with the announcements module.

Did either of you ever get a response or a fix for this issue.

I'm sure it must relate to user permissions somehow but there is nowhere to set these specifically for roles within the module config or settings menus (other than the DNN Page permissions) - I've set page edit  permissions to Admin/Editor only  roles and Users to View Only but still the Users are able to edit and delete anyone else's post in any Forum!

FYI - as the forum is only visible to registered users of a certain role all forums are set to unmoderated and all users to Trusted. But they should still not have the ability to delete others posts!?

QUE?!! or WHAT THE?!!

Chris - help or comment please?

Problem solved:  in module settings - set module permissions to view + edit for forum users and page permissions to view only for forum users.

DOH!

this will probably be my first of many stupid questions but as this is my first post, here goes.

I have the same problem: any user can delete any post regardless who posted it.  I know I incorrectly have the page permissions so users can view and edit page.  I'll remove edit permission.

My dumb question is where is the module permission?  The only permission in module is in each individual forum where I can specify an avator.
