I have lots of posts in my forum, how come my What's New scroller has nothing in it?

Items that are posted in "Private Forums" will not appear in the What's New Scroller.  This is due to several reasons one being it is a global cache item for the module and if we had it based on every single set of role permissions, caching it would be irrelevant and performance would be impacted.
