Hi I need to make some coding customizaiton of the forum module. Specificly the thread view, I believe it's ForumThread.vb

However in there it has comment that states: All UI is done in code, no corresponding ascx. This really throws me off, I have no idea how this "web page" can be rendered or where it is called from .

If the experts can give me some leads as to where to start it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The forum uses a 'dispatch' control named Forum_Container.ascx, this dynamically loads a class that builds the user interface depending on some settings and parameters in the query strying. This means if you refer to ForumThread.vb you will see it builds the entire UI in the vb.net code. (This is forum thread listing)

Hi after a while I did understand a bit more of how it works. I was just a bit shocked the first time. Thanks for the reply sir.

May I ask why did you choose to not have ascx files ? Makes it a bit harder to know what's going on.

Thanks

Not having an ascx for all the UI's is painful at times. I, however, was not the person who originally wrote the code. I also believe not having these has made some programmers shy away from working with the module because it looks more intimidating than it is. Someday this will probably change but for now I can't justify a major overhaul like this when it is working.
