I am tasked with converting Forums 3.20.09 to ASP.NET 2.0. Has any one done this or could describe the steps to do this.

I did try to compile the application converting the classes in code-behind to partial classes.  This did not work. Everything compiled as a project but website did not. Interestingly, the error was that a matching class could not be found in the assembly.  Instead of looking for type DotNetNuke.Modules.Forums.Forum_Administration, the error states could not load type desktopmodules_forum_forum_administration.

I understand that everything is a class in asp.net 2.0, but I am embarrassed to say I was surprised that compiling the code behind into a private assembly did not solve the issue.  I have visual studio with sp1 and web application projects are included.  When I opened the 7.1 solution, the conversion process proceeded without errors.  I assumed the converted project would behave like a web application project.

If I do not change anything there seems to be no problem, but that really isn't a 2.0 conversion.  How might I proceed to do this?

Thank you

Jspurlin,

I'm not able to answer your question about converting the forum module to ASP.NET 2.0.

Is waiting for the new release, which actually is an ASP.NET 2.0 version, not an option for you? Unfortunatelly the community doesn't know when this new version will be released. I understood that last weekend it was dogfooded here on DotNetNuke.com

But it all depends on the fact if you can wait or not. That's yours to decide.

Cheers,

Marc
