Hello!

I'm really impressed about the 4.4.3 version of the forum project. But like many other users I'm not able to set the correct permissions. I just want to have a "standard" config, that means, that Admins can configure everything and moderate, and Registered useres just can read and open new threads (and answer on threads of course).

1) Every registered user can administrate the forum!

Setting on the module: All User have view permission, Registered Users have Edit module rights, nothing else. When I log in as "Registered User" I'm able to do full administration on the forum!

2) Settings in the Forum Administration/Forum/General settings not saved

As another user in this forum already mentioned the Forum settings are not saved. If you change i.e. the checkbox "Moderators" for "Registered users", then click update and reenter the settings page, the checkbox is set again.

3) User Trust status

Although the Checkboxes "Trust new users" and "Lock New Users Trust settings" are not checked, new users are trusted and I'm not able tio change the setting because the "Trust User" checkbox is disabled in the user settings.

Could it be that there's something wrong with the Portal and/or Host installation?

Thanks a lot for your hints in advance!

Thomas

There are other ways to set permissions.  So you have look to the permission settings of the Modulesettings and also you can look to the page settings in Administrator/Pages.

Make sure Registered Users (or any other non-admin role) does NOT have "Edit" module permissions and update the mod settings once.

I have the same issue/confusion about permissions

Only the “Administrators” role has edit and moderator capability to the page and module through inherit.

All my users (including new ones) are trusted automatically and the trust is selected and disabled for me. The auto trust new users is not turned on.

Also is moderation only configurable for an entire forms module?  Can it not be controlled by group or topic?

Hello again!

I've solved my problems!

Because I've read a lot of threads where people mentioned that it is necessary to allow users or groups which shpuld be able to post, must have edit permission on the module I've set ths permission - this is not correct!

Now I've set the permissions as follows and everything is working correct.

Page: VIEW permission for "All Users"
Module: Inherit permissions from page
Forums: Set as desired i.e. Public not moderated or Privat not moderated and so on

Works perfectly, the trust status I don't have tested yet because I just use unmoderated forums.
