Any ideas on what's wrong with my forums?  Everything was working fine and then I started to get this message every time I try to add or edit a thread.  I've searched the forums and other resources and can't find an answer.

Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.PostEdit.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

*** Additionally, is it possible to get a copy of the 4.04.04 beta 2?  Many thanks!

Dave,

I got hit with the same problem just the other day after forgetting that simply checking "email tracking notification requested" for a particular thread seems to be what triggers this bug. I found that I was able to restore the ability to post by the following steps:

1. Determine in which forum I had requested email tracking notification for a particular thread - that was the hard part.
2. Click the "My Settings" icon.
3. Expand the Tracking/Subscriptions section header
4. Expand the forum group (such as General Forums) and locate the forum determined in #1 above
5. Check the box to request email tracking notification for posts in that forum
6. Click Update
7. Log off then Log in to the site
8. Repeat #4 through #6 above to clear the email tracking notification for posts in that forum

Hopefully you'll again be able to create posts. Sure hope this gets permanently fixed SOON!

Bill, THANK YOU!!  You were exactly correct, and your interim fix worked perfectly.  Just in case anyone else out there is as dense as I am, the easiest way to find the correct tab is to select my settings from the Forum container's drop down menu.  Under the tracking / subscriptions tab, I didn't immediately see that the list of forums expands after you hit the plus symbol on the icon to the left.  Checking all forums and hitting update fixed the problem for me.

Bill, it's support from folks you that makes DNN great.  I hope I can return the favor some day.
