I recently setup the Forum module in a site of ours. Went through all of the setup via the documentation. Setup a user who would be a Moderator. Set them up with Edit Module permission and all just like the documentation says. However when I logged in as that user I couldn't do anything in the Forums at all. Not even go in to start a new thread. Actually when I clicked on the Forum I had set up as Admin it took me to the site home page. This user couldn't get into anything. So now I am very confused. What I want is to have a user who can do all the Forum work such as moderating posts, starting threads, locking or pinning them and the like, but not be able to get into the settings to really mess things up. Any thoughts on how to do this?

I have set persmissions using the Forums settings, the overall settings for the module and the settings for their Role.

I need some help and am willing to answer any questions you have.

setting the view permission in the Module settings to all users or to the role you like to have and where the user is added!

Let me go through the settings I have set. To see where I may have done something wrong.

The module is set so that all can view it, even the unauthenticated. The module is set so that all but the unauthenticated can modify the module. These settings are as I read in the manual.

I have a moderator role that is set to Global Moderator.

Then under the Forum Admin section I went into Manage Forums/Groups and under the settings for the forum itself I have set:

That All Roles can view the Forums, Only Unregistered cannot start or reply to threads, Only the Moderator and Administrator role can Moderate, Pin, or Lock Threads and only the Moderator and Admin are Unmoderated.

With those settings the Forum when you login as the Moderator does not appear at all except on the initial screen. If you click on the Forum itself to make a post it jumps to the home page. If you go into to admin section, nothing shows up, even if I give the Moderator full Admin rights.

This does not seem to be functioning properly.

Any ideas? Or would anyone like to login to the section and take a look with me? I have Yahoo Messenger installed on my system so I could chat with someone as we go through things.

I think you are usning Forum 4.4.3 as a upgrade from Forum 3.x Module.  so you have go to Module Settings and disable the edit permissions to all roles that don't have permission to edit the module.  It is a change from the 3.x to 4.x Module !   Also I suggest download the user manual version 4.4.4 from the Forge - Project: Forum - download page.
