Guys, I don't believe it's this is a 100% Gallery issue.  The code to upload some items like "Avatar" is in the forum's code.  (See my post here:  http://dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/7/threadid/28826/scope/posts/Default.aspx)

I've found the code for the updates but can't debug to follow if the txtAvatar.Text value gets passed as the Actual text value or if a null is getting passed by accident.

Well, I cant get the gallery module to work at all!

I could carry on my forum without avatars fine, but I really need to install a gallery onto my site. everytime i try to use the module I get the error as I posted.

Im really stuck here and need help.

out of interest, if I found another Gallery module that does work, would that be compatible with the forums module, or am I better off finding a forum module which has avatars function built it?

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Just last week I downloaded the forums module and installed it.  I was testing it all day today and could not get a file attachment to upload successfully in order to attach it to a post.  After troubleshooting all day, it appears that you have to set the 'Max Attachment Size' to 0 in the Forum Configuration under Post Attachments.  Otherwise it will only let you upload a zip file.  I also had to add an entry to the DesktopModules\Forum\App_LocalResources\Shared_Resources.resx file, I added the following:

<data name="ExceedFileSize.Text">

<value>File exceeds size limitation, please select a smaller file!</value>

</data>

I suppose that this may not be the right answer but after searching the internet for quite some time, I decided to look at the code myself.  If someone knows the "right" answer to this, please let me know. I am a little concerned about setting the file size to "no limit" essentially, but our user base will not want to zip something up before trying to upload it.

Just wondering... has anyone come up with a solution to the avatar not showing up for a user or the email error when deleting a post?

Thanks.

I recently upgraded my site to the newest verion of DNN, and also upgraded both my Forums and Gallery modules.  I was hoping the avatar not showing would have been fixed, but it does not appear that it has been.  I was previously able to give a user an avatar by logging in as admin and assigning them an additional avatar, but I only did that for my normal user account.  Since I upgraded however, I have not been able to even do that, and have in fact lost my admin assigned systemavatar.

Obviously having avatars is not an end all requirement, but it would be nice if the Forums and Gallery would integrate better than they currently do.  Since that is the idea.  Anyway, just curious if there were any updates on this issue.

I have been trying to determine the best way to handle this and not loose what is already there. I plan on removing gallery integration with this module at some point soon.
