Hi all,

I am trying to import pre-existing data from a PHP forum (PunBB). Is there some sort of script to help us with this process? The forum contains at least 2,000 posts/threads and my client doesn't want to lose any of the old data.

If this is not possible can you suggest something else that I can do to keep the data, I was thinking like some sort of archive. How would I go about implementing this?

Many thanks in advance.

From the Project team there is no script availible, but perhaps some other have one.  But we have a Documentation of the Database you can get look at www.dnnforums.com.  I hope this can help you.

Thank you for the reply.

Is there any module or forum for DNN that can import the data from this PunBB (PHP-based forum). The forum uses MySQL for the database.

I would really appreciate the help if somebody can help me with this. My client really doesn't want to lose any of the post and so far there are 5000+ posts.

Thanks.

heindy,

I have done data migrations for clients in the past from one forum system to another, it is NOT an easy, or quick, process but typically do-able.

Drop me an e-mail if you would like at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com.  If you can send me schema information for the existing forum it would be greatly appreciated.  (Database structure)

Mitch,

I am planning to install Active Forums Standard in my DNN server. The old forum is in PunBB. I will send you the schema of the database once the client sent it to me.

Thank you again.

Heindy
