I am using the Forum core module on DNN 3.2.0. In the forums, I have Registered Users added to Authorized Edit Roles for each forum and they don't have the button to post a topic or reply. What did I miss in the configuration? Anyone in the Administrator role has those options. Thanks.

You need to set edit perms on the module for Registered users. You then do not need to make the forums private and should clear out role assignments.

Could you please clarify the function of the "Authorized Edit Roles" setting if it does not actually authorize roles to edit (post) like we wrongly have assumed?

I have seen a couple other threads on this, and the documentation says to use this setting.  Also, if we give "Edit" permissions to the end-user, everything appears to work correctly.  But my question is if we are doing it this way, are there any security-related side-effects?

The documentation tells us to use the "Authorized Edit Roles" setting, but only setting the "Edit" permissions does the job.  So...  What is that setting for?
