I just installed the forum module and have found that the icons in the module drop-down menu are not showing. Turns out that they have paths like the following:

http://www.bestwool.com/dnn//DesktopModules/Forum/Themes/Default/Images/ma_admin.gif

Notice the double //

Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?

Have you running the List fixes from the prinned thread of this forum after installing the Forum module?

This is not related to the posts fix. Your portal alias should not have the "/" at the end.
