Obviously. And let me add that as someone who spends a lot of time on message boards, the format os the 2 forum modules for DNN are not what most people prefer. Just ask the folks at Yahoo.

I would think vBulletin would disagree with you too.

Edit: Just to clarify.  I'm not saying that vBulletin is a dnn module.  However, it probably has the highest marketshare of internet forum applications.  The core forums and and Active Forums have a very similar format to vBulletin.  Also, you could achieve your desired format with Active Forums by modifying the templates.

Yet I for one not only prefer the standard forum layout (such as used by this forum)but I actually dispise the forum layout of sites scuh as the one you linked, and the yahoo one.

b.t.w since most people actually do not use yahoo, claiming they know what the majority of people want is a little presumptious

I think all who wants a oher layout can do it by self.  Also it is possible to modify the source code for the own use if it needed.  If you didn't have the understanding to make a own template or changing on source code there are a lot of companys where you can buy support, design, and developing.

Mike, I have to disagree with you as well.  I have one forum site with over 15,000 users that uses the Active Forums module from activemodules.com.  My site is focused on non-techies (regular people or 'most people' as you may call it).  My users have average computer skills or less and they find the module easy to use, evidenced by over 64,000 posts on the site.

The nice part of Active Forums is you can customize it via skins and templates to make it look like you want.  You can also turn off features as needed.   Their support is also very good.  (No I don't work for ActiveModules, I've just been a happy customer since 2005

Dnner .,

Thanks for the info in your post. I may have to migrate to Active Forums to help my non-techie users. The core is ok, but needs updating in a bad way. I've only got around 100 users, but many feel very strongly about "getting it right". Bugs are not going to fly with them.
