Hi All,

I've installed the forums module in DNN4, and things seemed to work fine, but I can't figure out how to let anyone other than administrators post to comments.

I've looked through all the settings and don't see where this sort of behavior would be set.  I even tried making it a private forum, and then manually adding "registered users" to the authorized roles list.  Still didn't work.

Here are some screenshots of the various settings I have.

Here are the module settings
Here are the general settings for the forum
Here are the settings for the group I have setup
Here are the settings for the forum in the group
Here's me, logged in as a registered user; note there is no reply button
Here's me, logged in as a registered user; note there is no "new thread" button.

Can somebody set me straight on this?  I've read through the PDF doc on this and I still can't figure it out...

I was having the same issue but...

Now I feel like a genius because I am not very good at the technical side of DNN, but I figured it out. You need to go to the module settings and chage the module permissions. Click on the roles you want to see the forum in the view column and then the roles you want to post, check the edit column.

The module will only let admin edit the admin settings of the module, so you do not have to worry about this when you allow registered users of whomever edit that module.

Different, but it works.

The Edit permissions in the module settings are where you need to look ("settings" from the dropdown at the top left of the module).

I ticked edit permissions on "registered users" and now all of my registered users can add topics and post replys.

They do not have permission to edit the module. Only Admin users can edit, move or delete the forum module.

I can understand that this causes confusion, because with every other module the edit settings determine who has permission to edit the complete module including deleting and moving it.

I hope this answers your query.

It does indeed.  Thanks!
