These should be built in option, i have no idea why they are not:

1. How do i disable the "new threads" button for registered users but still allow them to reply to posts? In other words we want a single thread discussion where you can only reply to the topic presented by our Moderators. Or alternately what page has the code where i can turn the visibility to "false"

2. How can we place the  newest-oldest/oldest newest option at the top of the page?

3. How could we get rid of the breadcrumbs in the forums? In a single thread topic we dont want users to go back to general, etc.

4. How do we get rid of the icons (they take up too much space)

5. How do we eliminate the "quote" feature, annoying and repetitive

The reason these are not options is because this is not normally how forums operate. This module is open source which means you can take the source and modify it how you see fit, but most of these will never be options of this module released here. While I don't agree w/ most of this, I am listing some things to get started with.

1. - You can't. If you wanted to do this you will have to modify the Thread view and the post view. In addition to the restirctions how, I would probably make it so only moderators can see the button. IMO, use a blog module.

2. - This isn't a bad thing but currently the UI changes are somewhat restrictive. To do this go into Thread view and just change where it is (this is all done in source code, not ascx)

3. - Remove the breadcrumb from all UI's, or alter the spot in the code where it is constructed so it outputs nothing.

4. - Remove them from the UI from the code. Not sure which ones but there is plently of places to look.

5. - You would have to eliminate this button from the post view UI. Although you may find it annoying and repetitive it is a nice feature seen in many forums available now.

Overall, use the core Discussions module. It is much more lean and seems to be more on point with what you need. Also, the source is not as much work to dig through because it is a much simpler module.
