I have a strange problem with forums. I've looked around but couldn't find a solution.

I'm using rss feeds from my forums to display top 5 posts of a subforum on the homepage. Visitors can click on the post link and view the forums post; however, that works sometimes.

Every 30 mins or so, it stops working. The link would simply redirect the user back to homepage instead of taking them to the forums post.

I've found a temporary fix. If I go back to forums administration and toggle the enable rss feeds checkbox, it starts working again. I've also noticed that enable rss checkbox simply adds an xml button at end of forums since my links work regardless if it's checked or not.

My problem at the moment is I have to keep checking/unchecking it every hour or so. Any Suggestions?

You can check the behavior at http://www.mandeeps.com

Thanks

35 views but not a single reply. Can anyone please share any thoughts on this? It may be something very trivial but I've exhausted all my options.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Which RSS option are you talking about? There is the one from the module actions menu and the one from the lower left hand corner of thread view.

Thanks for replying Crispy. I'm reffering to the XML button on the lower left hand corner of the forum thread view. Here's a link from my site: http://www.mandeeps.com/DesktopModules/Forum/Forum_Rss.aspx?forumid=5

If you look at this field, it has links to individual posts in a tag call <link></link> These links are not working. Instead of going to individual posts, then take me to homepage.

I can get the links to work if I go to the Forums Adminstration > General Settings > RSS Feeds and toggle the "Enable RSS Feeds" checkbox. However, it stops working after half an hour or so. Again, to fix it I have to toggle.

I hope I've clarified the problem. Waiting for your input...Thanks

Hi,  i got the same problem, you probably using authentication to access your forum. The RSS feed dont seem to log to work with a authentication. The reason it stop working after 30 min is that the session on the server is close. To solve that problem i created my own page in ASP that feed imself on the database.
