So my new plan, which I just finished a proof of concept that seemed to work.

I'm creating the Groups and Forums ahead of time via the module as there are only going to be a handful.  I then have a loop that calls forum_post_add().  I pass the subject and body to the function along with the other particulars.  The wrinkle in the equation was changing the ParentPostId, but I found that the function returns the id of a newly added post so I am using that.  I'm using a standard user for al the posts as it's much easier than verifying the user exists in DNN before adding.

Hi Mike,

I was just reading your post about migrating data into the DNN formns module. I also have the task of moving data from our old portal into our new one. If you would like to share your solution that would be appreciated. If anyone has a solution for importing data from a 4.9X portal to a 5.X portal that would be great.

Hi Chris,

I would like your recommendation for moving Forum data from one portal instance to another. I was going to use SQL to import the data into each of the tables. Before I attempt to do this, I wanted to get some feedback on the best approach..

I believe that we met at one of the Vegas shows..
