Hi All.

First of all: i wish everybody a happy new year!

Now, what it is all about....

I have a development instance running on my Notebook where i test everything before installing on any lifesite.

I tested the 4.5.4 Forum and would like to use it in production but having two problems i can't find any answer in the forum here.

1) The Navigation Buttons are only visible for Admins, not for registered users, allthough Enable Toolbar Icons is enabled and the users can do what they should be able to do (creating, editing....)

2) I can create polls (as in a given forum Polls are enabled) but i never see the question and the answers, so the users aren't able to choose. I only see text entered in the "normal" textfield.

What could i do to fix these two issues?

Thanks in advance and happy partying.... (here it is 2 pm, so 10 hours left)

Kai

Kai, are you using a stock theme (default w/ .png extension)?

I'm using the default theme and PNG is set as extension. I also tried the WOB but the effect is the same. The Icon toolbar is only visible for admins and when creating a Poll (as the first topic in a thread, i know....) it does not show the poll itself only the description.

In the meanwhile i double checked whether "Trust new Users" is enabled and created an additional user.

This new user can create new threads, reply on existing ones but does not see any navigation buttons on top of the forum. And he can create "polls" but noone (even not himself) can see the questions / choices / answers.

What the hack could this be?

OK, beside the known bug with avatars my forum is now working, and here is what i did:

As i was testing with my Testenviroment on my notebook i just deleted the db and the folder and made a fresh clean installation of 5.2.1. Then i placed the included forum 4.5.4 on a page and everything is working.

The differences to the former installation are:
- the 5.2.1 was an update to the existing 5.1.x
- there was already a forum test on the 5.1.x prior to update
- i installed the WOB-Forum extension (in fact another theme) which is not availabe now after the clean installation
(You can read more about that here)

However, i do not understand what this could be and i'm afraid to use the forum now on my production site if the errors are only gone after a total new installation. On the testenviromen it took me 10 mins or so but on my prod-system we would talk about some days (including the old content).

So, what could this be? The Wob? The update itself?
