Hi folks,

I would like users to be able to post attached photos inline that appear as an image in the threads rather than a link.

When making a new thread there are some custom editor options that say force image to a certain width, but those don’t seem to do anything even when applied to module etc

When I set the size too 600pixels under Admin- Users-Users Interface then an inline image larger than 300 pixels will be visible in preview but when the thread is posted it appears as a link again. If I upload an image 600 pixels wide this will display fine in the forums and when I change the max pixel width down to 500 it will resize all the images posted.

Can anyone please give me an idea of what I am doing wrong or whether it is actually possible for users to post images of any size and them appear inline in the forums displaying the picture???

Many thanks

FW

Are you using the HTML editor to upload the image and add it to the post? If so, this is controlled via the HTML Provider and not the forum. The forum does parse the post body but it depends on how the image is uploaded/inserted for it to determine if the size is impacted.

The problem looks to be related to the Forum modules image upload, as the problem can be reproduced using the basic text box editor. Under the following conditions:
1. Forum image size set to 600px
2. Images under 600px can be uploaded through the Forum attachment and placed inline, and display correctly as the full size image.
3. Images over 600px can be uploaded through the Forum attachment and placed inline. The image file is uploaded, and is in the attachment directory but has not been resized, it has the original dimensions. When viewing the post the inline tag is displayed, not the image.
4. Attached image shows an inline image of less than 600px, and one over 600px. First is displayed, second is not.

Question is; What does the image width setting do -
1. does it resize the image on upload
2. block the inline display of images over 600px
3. dynamically resize images over 600px ?

looks like answer 2 on this installation (forum version 04.05.03) - Is this the expected functionality ?

ps - no image as there is no attachement option on this forum ?
