I just received a notification for a new post to the following thread.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...

The thread was rather old. I assumed that I must have forgotten to turn off my notifications for that thread. So, I went to the DNN Forums and this is what I found.

- Notification options at the bottom of the thread seemed to indicate I was not subscribed to notifications.

- In My Settings it also said I was not subscribed to any forum or thread.

So, why did I get the notification? How do I turn it off?

Andrew, you are subscribed to the thread itself. To unsubscribe, in this case, you would edit your original post and un-check the notification checkbox.

I am sure that in the DB I am subscribed to the thread, but why then does the the MySettings > Notifications > Threads section say:

You are currently not tracking any threads.

Shouldn't the thread I am subscribed to show there?

Currently, it doesn't work that way (although it probably should). The way this is stored, for thread notification is in a lookup table. However, in this situation it is stored at the post level. Fundamentally this is wrong but that is how it has worked since I took over the module years ago and I never changed it. I will mark it for a future enhancement.
