  1. All files will pass through the core file manager (not gallery upload).
  2. Dependancy on the gallery will go away, attempting more of a provider model
  3. The blog module is removed as of next version

Excellent! Number 3 brings up an interesting question... What would happen if I uninstall the Blog module? Since it was installed with the Forum I'm just curious if it will affect the Forum module in any way.

Regarding the News functionality - don't waste too much time on this. If need be, an NNTP reader can be developed as a separate project (if at all) IMHO.

When I originally tested the forums/blog I remember I was able to unisntall the blog without any issues.  Now I am starting to wonder if I am crazy.  If you attempt to uninstall the blogs it will wipe out all your forums data.  I found this out the other day on my local dev box.  We are writing some upgrade logic to handle this entire process on the next install.  Please be advised any blog data will be lost.  Also, note that currently, uninstalling any one of the two modules will wipe data for both.

Thanks Crispy. I'll just leave it there for the time being.

  4. Forum Themes have been changed to make it easier for desingers (as well as css file documented)
  5. There will probably never be core support for the MS Access database

Thanks Crispy for the informations. Although not as i expected, these improvements seem worth waiting.

Please note I did have "I can say the following will occur but I can not give a timeline (for most):" above those items in my post.  I don't want people to expect all of this in the next release :)
