Does anyone know if Active Social and Forums in the upcoming DNN 6.2 release will be IPortable?

 I need a way to setup and configure these modules, and Journal, and messaging, etc. in portal templates so that I can quickly clone them when creating new child portals.

 If not fully IPortalble:
- will they be partially?
- Does anyone know a good way to achieve what I need?

the new modules are not portable- but there are valid reasons for this (e.g. it does not make sense to copy journal areas from one site [that are heavily integrated with users from that site] to another site, or to copy messages from one site to another). I emailed the product manager about this thread, hopefully they will have a chance to respond with further detail.

Hi Cathal,

I agree that there is not much value in cloning journal or message content from a portal template to new child portals.

However, it would be nice to include the social modules (added to specific pages) when we create the portal template.

We have LMS clients who setup dozens of child training portals, the ability to do basic module clone, on specific pages, with basic roles setup and configuration intact would help reduce the setup time.

Do you know if any level of portal template/cloning is supported with the Social modules?

Hi Chris,
All of the new modules take advantage of the core settings. This means that they do support export/import at the page and site level. This will not include content as Cathal mentioned above. However, the do work from a configuration and setup perspective.
