Selvan,

what exactly were you trying to do? A DNN upgrade for your site? Or did you develop a local site and uploaded it to a new or existing webspace? Did you change the connection string in the web.config before? How did you upgrade/upload the database?

Best wishes
Michael

First you Need Hosting with Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher, with configured .NET 4.0, and a MS SQL 2008 Server to install DNN 7.x !  Then you have to modify the web.config file before you upload your files to the Hosting, if you want to use moving a Instance on your local Computer to a Hosting.  Also you have to backup and restore the database from your local SQL Server to the Hosting SQL SQL Server, after you created your database and database user on your Hosting.

On the Hosting you have to set physical permissions for the ApplicationPool user with full or change and write Access and for the the IIS Annonymous User with read permissions for the root path.  Inherit those permissions to all files and subfolders.  Set execute permissions for Scripts and Executables on the .NET settings.

Some Hosting applications e.g Parallels Plesk Panel Need some spacial Settings to get DNN succuessfully installed.

Regards

Matthias

Dear Sir,

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->  <system.web>  </system.web>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->  <system.web>  </system.web>

DNN Version: 5.0

ASP.Net Verson :4.0

Microsoft Sql Server 2008

Do as it recommends. Change the web config file so you can see what the error is.

Best wishes,
