I'm having problems with a site that I've recently updated to DNN 8.0.3. This is about the 20th site I've updated now, and the first time I've come across this. I have tried deleting any 3rd party modules that are different to my other sites, to no avail. The error in the log is as follows, and I am getting swamped with these errors... sometimes hundreds of identical errors within a few seconds.

2016-06-08 11:07:41,365 [wsuk4][Thread:91][ERROR] DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions - System.IndexOutOfRangeException: IsSystem
at System.Data.ProviderBase.FieldNameLookup.GetOrdinal(String fieldName)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.GetOrdinal(String name)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.get_Item(String name)
at DotNetNuke.Entities.Tabs.TabInfo.Fill(IDataReader dr)
at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.CBO.FillObjectFromReader(Object objObject, IDataReader dr)

Any ideas, please? It's a site with a lot of content and I don't want to have to create a new site and migrate content. I haven't tried going back to DNN 7.4.2 (via backup) and running the update again as I suspect it will likely have the same result, unless someone out there thinks otherwise!

Cheers, Mike

please check your tabs table, whether it contains a column "isSystem".

if it exists, you need to review views and procedures using this table,
otherwise one of the DNN upgrade scripts did not run properly

Thanks Sebastian.

I had already given up and restored the 7.4.2 version! I uninstalled a couple of third party modules that I wasn't using on the site, and then upgraded to 8.0.3 and it all went smoothly. Must have been one of the third party modules that was incompatible with DNN8!

Given that experience, I tackled another site that I'd had similar (but not entirely identical) problems with. I removed all third party modules that weren't being used on the site, only leaving those modules that I knew to work properly with DNN8. I then upgraded to 8.0.3 without any problems.

Definitely worth checking older sites for old and unused modules first before upgrading! I am usually quite good with my housekeeping, which is why I had no problems with the other 20 sites that upgraded first time without a problem.

Mike,
it is always wise to remove unused modules before major upgrades.
They might interfere with the new platform version and open potentially security risks.
