Well I have been using dnn now for about 6 months and have seen the forums module be introduced and I think that what is out there so far is great, but I think there are a few features that a lot of people would agree would be helpful if added.  From personal experience with other standalone forums such as phpbb and zeroforum, there are a few features that are included that make the whole experience a lot more gratifying.

1. Private Messages are a great way to have people be able to talk to the person they think has the answer to there problem directly rather than posting in the forum and hoping they see it.

2. Moderators should be designated for each forum and listed so that they can be contacted for anything dealing with that forum.

3. The whole having to wait for a moderator to review my post thing is not soo hot. I've had to wait up to 4 hours for my post to actually make it out there then another 2 hours to see a reply. Not to mention they show that there has been a reply to your post then when u go to the post nothing is there. Why show a reply if you cant see it. I understand the need for moderation but 99% of forums out there use a system where post don't need to be moderated to be posted but they are reviewed afterwords.  Plus I don't see a lot of malicious posts being made on a forum as professional as this.

So I hope we can take these reccomendations into consideration for future revisions.

Thanks,
Mike

1. Is already built into the system and will be exposed in the next major release.

2. This is already possible by choice of the forum admin.

3. This is not an option, it is policy here of DotNetNuke and not one of this module alone. It is not normal for a 4 hour delay but it does happen. The reply is a bug we are working out. This module is capable of moderating posts without moderation up front, but we choose not to implement it that way. It is easier to give permissions than it is to take away.
