I want to make some changes to the post layout.  I put together this picture to show what I am talking about:

http://www.maxminis.com/picture_showing_forum_modifications.gif

Item 1
the width where the user's avatar and name goes is too wide.  I want to narrow it to give more room to the actual post.  additionally, it resizes even larger when someone puts a large link in their name.

Item 2
The horizontal bar with the buttons on the top seems unnecessary.  I want to move the buttons to the left with the avatar and free up more room for the post.

Item 3 and 4
The forums have space on each side of them.  How do I get rid or reduce this space?  This is probably more a function of DNN.

Item 5
Another space-waster.  I want to get rid of the extra bar at the top with the date.  I want to put the date in the avatar area.

I suspect a lot of this is in a script file.  Which script file is it?  Do I need the forum source?

Regards,

Mike

All these are handled in various components\ vb files. This is lots of work and if you don't know vb.net you aren't going to be able to change it.

Hi Crispy, thanks for the reply.  I do know vb.net.  Can you point me to the files that I need to look at to change these?

Regards,

Mike

ForumInfo, ForumThreads, ForumGroup, ForumPosts, ForumThreadSearch, ForumPortalSearch. The names are very close to that. This is going to be quite a task, good luck!

Hi, Crispy! A newby DotNetNuke user here.

I am not as ambitious as Mike . . . I just want to widen my Forum layout. For some (unknown) reason, my Forum layout in the ContentPane is very narrow. How can I increase the width of the whole layout? Or might there be something in my setup that is constricting the width?

TIA for your assistance.

JC
