I have a similar problem, when people use the forums this causes an email to be sent to me saying : Subject : Forum Email Error

Could not access 'CDO.Message' object.
I went through my host's config and noted that my email was set to Anonymous, but reportedly worked find when I used the Test option. I've left this as Anon, but have now added a username/password (but I dont know what this will change) - I hope this error will go away. I cannot see anywhere else that I can update/add any additional SMTP setings, other than changing the Anon option - but I dont know what they will do! :(

My previous log message is as follows - The log says :

That's not the problem here. All the SMTP setting are set correctly.

I have yet to receive any notification email from any version of this forum module installed on any site in the past year including here. I always tick the notify box whever I post in any forum and I of course receive notifications from all over the placefrom other types of forum.. just never from this particular module.

The box below is ticked right now and I've checked my profile to ensure my address is correct. $5 says I don't get a notification when someone replies.

The only external thing I can remotely think of that might be messing with this is spam filters around the web. I recall when first getting into DNN that DNN's registration verification emails were fitlered by the larger email services like hotmail. Perhaps this is still the case.

Regards,
Rob

ok, well my suspicions were correct. After sending that kast post, I quickly changed my email from Hotmail to my private one and voila... my very first DNN forums notification message (and what a freaky message it is too... all big and red and scarey looking and in dire need of some information architecture.. I thought someone was being mad at me when I opened it)

Can some others who are having the problem let us know what sort of email accounts they are using? Might help narrow this down.

Additional issue about the notification email... if one isn't logged in to the forum in advance, then one loses one's spot and has to browse back through the forum to try and find the post after logging in. I recall there is a DNN setting somewhere that can make this work better.

Another thing to fix might be the way that the forum is letting one of the above posts force the window miles out to the side. There must be a way to make it break the line at a specific limit?

I do have to investigate the line break thing but it is proper that all posts are pushed out and not just one.

I am glad we see that some of this notification problem comes back to hotmail.  Hotmail is the devil.

As for the forum and loosing yoru spot on login.  I am not sure what you are talking about as a fix but I am pretty sure this is a dnn problem because paramaters are not being picked up at login.
