I have an existing forum with an access database and wondered if thehre were any utilities to import these to the database

I know the user data needs to be imported too -

If it doesnt exist any chance of pointing me in the right direction as to wht I need to look out for and what tables are involved and their contents that relate

so that I can work on my own utility to do this?

I doubt there is any importers available from an access database. My advice is doing a dts of the tables into your DNN db, then writing a set of sql cursor statements. You will have to get the users in first, then get them in as forum users, then the groups, then the forums. You will also have to handle the possibility of subforums if your first forum had them because this one doesn't. This is a lot of work.

I would also like to do this - Specifically I would like to import from SMF forums.

Alternatively i may consider a 3rd party forum module for DNN; if it would allow for this.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?  I was planning to tackle this later in the month but hadn't considered the issue of subforums...    usernames isn't as important, i would be content having all messages posted by the same user -- with an appended header to the message giving the original author;  in short - i want to preserve history without keeping the old forum up.

thanks

I have been looking quite deeply at this module for a while now - if you want to send some sample data in acess I'll see what i can do

Hi Dave,
I have similar problem. I haven’t got a clue on how to import my old Snitz Forums 2000 to DNN Forum Module. It’s used as a help forum where injured and sever ill persons can help each other and even get help from specialists. The whole site and its help forum are free of charge, as I run it as a private person with out any profit interest.

The forum data is as follow:
