I admit I'm tired, but where are the code behind files for the forums ascx files??  I have the source zip file installed and running on my computer...  What project compiles DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.dll ?

First, I assume you are using vs 2k3. Next, You can use the Show all and you will see the + signs and the code behind files are there. (Of course, some of the forums UI has no ascx counterpart)

I'm sorry to be so dense.  I am an experienced .net programmer but not very familiar with user controls.  We've always written server controls.  But I searched the entire dnn folder for any .vb files that are mentioned in the codebehind attribute of the page tag in the ascx files that are in the Website\DesktopModules\Forum folder.  And they don't show up.  I could be wrong, but it looks like I have the DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.dll in my bin directory of the source install, but no .vb source files for the ascx controls.  It looks like a release version we put into our production releases with no source files.

BTW, I am using vs 2005 and DNN 4.3.5

Thanx again,
Frank

Hi Frank. Its difficult, as I am sure you understand, for me to know anyones experience level until I have seen a few posts from them. After some more explanation, I now know what the problem seems to be. You installed the install version, which does not include source with it. The source version is available for download but there are a couple things you should know:

The current source version available is built on framework 1.1, so it does not adhere to the WSP project model.

When this module does move to 2.0, it will be using the WAP structure.

Believe me, I completely understand.  I've been developing in .net since it was in beta.  Boy was that fun.  Talk about bugs. :)

Please understand that I REALLY appreciate your help.  I am part of a not for profit organization and DNN is perfect for us and helps us minimize the costs.

I looked on the forums home page but did not find a source install.  I have the extracted and install the DotNetNuke_4.3.5_Source.zip file onto my computer and this is where I can't find the .vb files for the codebehinds.  Is there another source.zip file I should use to get the forums source code.  I want to trace through the code to see if I can help find the bug I'm discussing with you on the other thread.

And please know I really appreciate your help. I know you guys do this for free!

Frank
