Yay... Take Me to the Community!

Rod,

I strongly agree with you. The current way to edit the wiki is very unintuitive. The average site user will not think of looking in the top right corner of the page to enable the edit mode so that he/she can see the edit link.

Chris,

Great start considering it is a free module. It seems there is not much going on with the Wiki project after the first release. Is it for lack of interest from the DNN community (users) or creating a fully functional Wiki is tough from a design/coding prospective?

Thanks.

Ivan

I'm not one to complain, since, frankly, I have no idea what the challenges are behind the scenes for the volunteers who are developing the module. I must admit, though, to frustration at the pace and what seems like inadequate communication from the developer(s).

Frankly, if some developer would build a servicable commercial Wiki module that met the needs of the DNN community, I'd be ecstatic and I bet I wouldn't be alone. This would give the DNN community more than one option.

Wiki information is posted in my blog here on dotnetnuke.com. I just posted one last night for those of you who complain that the communication is inadequate.

Thanks for the update Chris. I hadn't gotten to the blogs yet.

I apologize for spouting off. I'm in no position to complain -- I haven't contributed to the development of the module, after all, except to suggest certain features. Also, you're a volunteer! I know you're putting in a huge effort on behalf of the community, so thank you!

I guess I'm just frustrated. We have a huge need for a fully-developed, ready-for-primetime DNN Wiki that would be employed by our online community of 150,000+ nonprofit-sector professionals. I suppose I should have been more proactive in looking for other solutions, but the most obvious, a commercial version for DNN, doesn't exist. There are non-DNN solutions but I don't have the time or skills to work on integrating them into DNN. So, I've just been patiently waiting for things to progress with this community project, frustrated at not being able to help and feeling a bit helpless.

Steve
