Hello,

It seems that my Wiki has a problem - the edit menu does not appear no matter what security settings I use.   If I'm logged into the site with an admin account and I click the "edit" radio button at the top of the page (view / edit), then the edit link appears on the wiki module, however if I select the "view" option button, then it disappears again.

I've tried every security setting and it seems that I just can't edit the wiki.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rod

Rod,

I'm not following your problem. If you click on the Edit icon at the top of the page you get the Edit link. What happens what you click on that Edit link?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Perhaps I don't fully understand the Wiki concept.  When I have the site in Edit mode (via the Edit radio button in the top left of the DNN page ), the edit link in the Wiki module appears.  Clicking this link allows me to edit the Wiki as per the instructions.  That part is fine.

However, I thought that the Wiki concept allowed anyone with sufficient security access to see the "edit" link in the wiki and also update the page.  How are they going to see this link if the only way I can make it visible is by logging into DNN as an admin and selecting the "edit" radio button from the "Mode : View Edit" section of the DNN admin toolbar?  Shouldn't the edit link appear in the wiki to anyone that logs into the DNN site with the sufficient edit privileges?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Best regards,

Rod

Rod,

If you setup edit rights with the DNN's editable roles then the users should see the view/edit radio buttons.

I agree that this kind of defeats the purpose of a Wiki, and I'll look at it for a next release, but that is the way it is right now, based on DNN's configuration.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response.  No wonder I had such a problem trying to get this to work!  I can't believe that this module has been developed this way and that there isn't a lot more outcry about this!? This style of security makes it only good for an internal intranet style web sites at best.

I am after a wiki that any casual user can edit, provided that they register, but without having to have such access privileges that they can edit the entire DNN page, or site!?

Glad to hear that you'll consider this for the next release.

Best regards,

Rod
