Hello,

Is there a way to force the Wiki Index and all automatic links to use a SEO friendly URL?

It would appear that if a Wiki entry contains more than one word, the Index and URL displays an un-friendly URL.

Like this:

/tabid/56/Default.aspx?topic=Two+Words

However, is the Wiki entry is just one word, then it creates a friendly URL, like this:

/tabid/56/topic/2B/Default.aspx

My goal is to get Google to search my Wiki for the multi-words (I have a lot of them). I know that Google doesn't search the index normally, which is fine--I created a SiteMap and Table of Contents page, but what I do is to copy the index and post the links into a SiteMap page. However, since the link I copy from the index contains the query string, Google still does not search the multi-word pages.

I need to figure out why this is occuring and try to get it corrected in the next release, I haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

To get around this, when i setup http://www.dotnetnukedocs.com/ I always made sure to generate my pages with the following format

[GettingStarted|Getting Started]]

that way the module used GettingStarted as the URL parameter, but Getting Started as the actual link text.

I look forward to the next release then! I like the intuitive nature of just typing the name with spaces in the brackets as you would normally spell it rather than concaticating the words.

It does work if I manually change the URL link on my site map page from this:

/tabid/56/Default.aspx?topic=Two+Words

to this:

/tabid/56/topic/Two+Words/Default.aspx

So, I don't know how hard it will be for you to change the "Add" new page function to use that syntax, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Thanks again

Hi Chris,

at first thanks for your efforts and to provide us the wiki-module! Good work!

When I was looking for a solution to create a SEO friendly glossary with DNN I stumbled over your site: http://www.dotnetnukedocs.com which seems to be a good way.

The start page with the contained entry headers http://www.dotnetnukedocs.com/Home/to... and also the entry URL for long tail words e.g http://www.dotnetnukedocs.com/Home/to... is excellent, maybe a hyphen instead of removing blanks would the an improvement.

Is there a version available for download which supports the long tail URL's and how I could get a similar start page with all contained entry headers? Do you have a sample to access it programmatically for each letter e.g. A, B, C etc.

Thank you!
